How do you convert a autostick to a standard stickshift?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to convert a autostick to a standard stickshift? I have a 68 convertible bug and would like to have a standard stickshift in it.

Maybe you are asking in the wrong place. This forum and site is for preserving automatic cars.
I personally think you are ruining the car if you replace the gearbox, it shouldn't be too hard to find a late 60ies manual gearbox convertible and sell your car to someone who appreciates it.

Anyone can have a standard gearshift Beetle,but there is only ONE VW stick Shift... Why in the world would You want to change it...     Keep it as a Stickshift Auto Bug ...  Autosticks are becoming rare because people are changing them over to standard transmission Beetles..
