To remove the transmission on my 69 autostick I need to remove 4 "M8" bolts from the drive plate through a hole in the transmission case.  These bolt heads have more than 12 points and don't fit normal sockets.  I havn't been able to find a M8 socket.  Any help appreciated.

Hiya mgsuki,

Oh yeah!  And those flex plate bolts are pretty scarce themselves.  You want to take good care of them once you do get them out because finding new ones will be next to impossible.

I had my tranny pulled for a complete rebuild this past summer.  Had to take it to another city here in the PNW so I couldn't pull it myself.  However when the tech got to pulling the bolts from the flex plate we chatted about that for awhile.  I had not seen any bolts just like these and asked about his tools.  Said he got them from Snap-On.

Expensive - yes!  But if all you need is one socket...................Well, I'd give the local Snap-On guy a shot.

I'm going to be looking at swaping engines when i get the dual port built and I cannot seem to find any sockets with the M8 designation, even on the Snap-on site.  Does anyone have a pic of a bolt head?
