Main brake sylinder

I heard that on all autostick Beetle there is a Main brake sylinder that can handle disc brakes..On my `70 it is drumbrakes in the front, but as I said, someone told me I can use it with disc brake...
Is this correct ??

not sure if they same cylinders, my car has disc on front, i thought all semi-autos did?

Hiya zv,

The master cylinder on a 70 Bug (AutoStick or manual) is of the dual circuit type.  It should work with either drum (which is stock all the way around on a 70) or disc.

Hi Danny,
No Beetles in the USA had front disc Brakes...  ALL DRUMS..
like our non supers during the 70s, excluding our 1976 Beetle which did have discs..
All Beetles in the USA after 1969 DID have IRS rear suspension...
Not JUST Semi Auto Sticks like ours...  so there is no shortage of IRS rear ends in the USA only a shortage of disc brakes..
Late Karmann Ghias did have disc brakes... I believe...

When installing Disc Brake calipers, make sure the bleed nipple is at the TOP not at the bottom...  or You cannot Bleed the brakes properly..

From experience...
