Hiya Square,

Well, the reason I didn't answer is simply cause I don't know.

And you do have to remeber one other item, this forum is not as heavily trafficked as many others.  It sometimes takes quite a while to get a knowing response.  I really don't think you were getting snubbed.

1 of my favorite things about vwers that we're  always ready to help
I appreciate the honesty Mike ,I just really looked at the amount of people that looked at my listing with not one reply not even to say welcome so I really thought I was getting snubbed cause I had stick's.
I AM SORRY  ROOM   i will salvage any vw thats got a reason
if any body can send me a pic of a true autostick gland nut I can get to a automatic (original) gland to find out
although I don't want to tear into the case for the cam I know the cam gear is different on the manual cause of the oil pump(as i was told)but would the 2 auto's be similar
thanks Ray

What are you calling the Gland Nut?  The nut on the flywheel?  I am no expert and very new to Autosticks as well.  The flywheel nut/bolt on my engine has the same threads and size as one from a standard tranny.  Except it doesn't have the tiny roller bearings.

Knowing VW engineers from past experience I do not think they would change the Gland Nut between an automatic and an autostick.  The oil seal is the same, the threads and nut size is the same so why would they change it?

On the other hand in rare cases they do change stuff for no apparent reason.  My '74 Thing has one tie-rod end that is Thing Specific, it doesn't fit any other VW made and no other tie-rod can be used as a substitute.

I hope this helps.

BTW where are you located and where is your VW Junkyard?
