Hey all, I just got a 74 std Bug. It runs and drives, no grinding in gears or slippage. But when I release the shifter after putting it into any gear, it JERKS really harshly. In fact, if the drivers door is only closed to the first catch, it will pop it open! I tried adjusting the control valve, but it did nothing... Can anyone help my car (and my neck!)???  Thanks, John

At the back side of the carburettor there are two vacuum inlets.
The left one gives vacuum's inlet mainfold for the air filter, the right one is the vacuum's venturi for the control valve.
I think that you may have put the two hoses in the wrong order
