I am trying to get the back up lights working on my '70 Karman Ghia.  Can someone provide assistance in identifying/locating the switch?  Is it on the transmission?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it should be on the trans IIRC.  There will be a line from the + side of the coil to a fuse which then runs to the switch.  Should be the only fused line from the coil, and the fuse will be in the engine bay on the driver's side fo the shroud.

Hiya Nova,

Just expanding on what Cobey has already mentioned................

The back-up switch should be located in the front of the transaxle close to the "hockey stick" connector to the shift rod.  But before you go crawling under the car be sure to check that fuse Cobey already mentioned.  The back-up switch rarely goes south (although it can happen) and your problem is more likely to be found in the in-line fuse.

The reverse light switch on a stick shift Ghia is actually located to the rear, if you look underneath the car on the right hand side where the starter motor is, the switch is more or less just above the drive shaft - a real pig to get to, there should be a connector with 2 wires from there.
