Hey guys I recently bought a 71 autostick beetle and had some wiring issues that I got squared away by follwoing through some of the threads here. Thanks for all the help. I was also wondering if anyone had any idea what hub caps would fit the wheels on it(picture attached).

I'm not sure where you are located, but there is a set for sale on TheSamba http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1512134.

They look like they need some TLC, but the price looks decent enough.

So really any 4 lug caps for the 71 should fit? Do they attach to the lug bolt heads?

As far as "any" 4 lug caps, I wouldn't know for sure. The ones in the advertisement should fit many years.

The caps fit snugly into the rim. For an example, refer to the owner's manual on page 42 for your year. If you aren't fortunate enough to have a copy, you can find one here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/71bug.php

If you prefer new and shiny (albeit more expensive and possibly lesser quality) you can look here too: http://www.jbugs.com/product/251601151A.html

Hi
Yes all the hub caps from 1968> will fit Your wheels..
they clip over the hump in the wheels...
Good original German ones fit great but some of the non genuine ones that even look great
can either be loose or too tight..  I have one excellent new looking cap, but I ended up denting it trying to get it on with a rubber mallet.. as I just couldn't get it to fit..
Brasillian or Mexican wheels may have been slightly larger or slightly smaller..
so the hub caps are a problem..   If the chrome is OK on the caps then wax them with a car wax every few months and that will stop the rust..  I wax all My chrome every few months and even a Brasillain bumper is still rust free after 6 years...  I use good quality wax..

cheers
