I replaced my transmission with one that has been sitting for a couple years. The clutch was nice and rusted to the pressure plate. I was aware of that problem and cleaned it all up before putting the transmission in. The one thing I did not think of doing was flushing out all the old ATF from the torque converter. It shifts like a dream,  and takes off strong when cold. Once I have driven a couple miles, the bug is very sluggish when taking off in "L" and "1". I am leaning towards old ATF, but what else could it be? The car ran great before the transmission change except for not liking to "2" and kept jumping out of gear. I am guessing the transmission is a newer one since it only had one ATF temp sensor. I have another take out transmission with no ATF temp sensors. I'll have to figure out how to post pictures of the crusty clutch disk.

On another topic, does anyone know where I can get the electrical spade that goes on the ignition coil? I lost mine while changing the transmission and all the wires are not happy being on eyelets.

Thanks,

Marcus

Marcus,

Not sure about your first issue. Regarding your spade connections, do you mean the piggy back connector?

Here's the terminal I was looking for: https://www.euromotoelectrics.com/product-p/3wayspade.htm

I figured out what was going on...  first, sluggishness was fuel condensing in cold runners and flooding the cylinders. Second sluggishness is from the engine running lean while hot from worn throttle shift bushings. Lean mixture, hotter engine, fuel causing partial vapor in the fuel lines at idle. Time to send the carb of for rebuild.
