hows this for the start of a New year...
Engine and gearbox removed....

I should have the replacement gearbox installed shortly...
I'm going to take the heads off the engine
and replace all the push rod tubes and seals...

I did have a slow leak when the engine was going...
it may have been the top of a pushrod tube seal leaking...

one push rod tube seal was nearly cut in half at the top by the tube itself
the seal wasn't in the correct position when the head was installed..

The car is in the same position as when I took the engine and gearbox out

it could have been closer to the ground...
but I would have trouble crawling under it...

I've also found that You do get tired of yellow and red..  lol...

I hope i never get tired of Gray ... lol...

Well,
I've bought more gray paint
and some High Temp red paint for the engine tinware...

so, hopefully no more burnt paint..

Hi

I'll have to be more vigilant when assembling engines..

I never actually found out if the gearbox was working OK

due to the engine leaking oil between the cylinder and head on 1 & 2

I've also found some weeping of engine oil out the bottom of the gearbox inspection hole...

I'm back on the road

did about 60kms today...

no leaks [fingers crossed]
