rag top for a fasty

does anyone know if someone makes a ragtop for a fasty.

Welcome to the forum!

This is a difficult one for me to answer. This site is focused on AutoStick equipped cars (all of them Type 1s) and only occassionally wanders into the world of the fully automatic Type 3.

thanks,i will check them out,i have been to a lot of car shows around texas and have seen a couple of squares with rag tops,i said why not a fasty.it is a daily driver with a 1776,duel baby webers,gets great gas milage,about 37 miles to a gallon,i will try to post a picture of it,getting ready for fredricksburg in april,it is a great show and growing every year,last year we had 155 cars go on the cruise,and another 100 come to the show,maybe we will see some of you there.

Hey Mike,

Just to let you know 72fasty is my dad and he did find a site that sold rag tops for a ghia that will fit his car, now all we have to do is get the money and find someone to do the installation.
Maybe some of the club members in the Texas area can make it to the shows we have here, our club members need to post upcoming shows for their clubs, I'm sure the people in the area will be interested.
We go to most of the ones from Dallas to Nacogdoches and of course the Texas Classic in Fredreicksburg, this will be my first year as a participant so I'm really looking forward to it.

VW shows and swaps should be on your "Must Do" list.

Yes Chris, even if your car is not up and running. Why? They are the SINGLE BEST place to buy parts. Private vendors (especially the ones who are selling used parts) charging low prices and merchandise you can examine before you buy (or don't buy). And Chris, with a restoration in progress, if I were you, I'd be drawing up a shopping list and packing my bags.

Not only that, these shows allow you to rub elbows with folks who are deep into the VW world. Such contacts can prove to be very useful down the road.

On top of all that, I come back from these shows always having learned something new and having picked up an idea or two. Very educational.

A tip for you................

Since you are down in the Lone Star State, you need to be aware that you are in the same general neck of the woods as Keith (Keifernet over at the Samba). He is a great resource. Very knowlegeable and has resources (especially carburetor related stuff). Matter of fact he is rebushing an original AutoStick 30PICT3 for me right now. Keith is one of those guys who can show you the way when you seem hopelessly lost. Nice guy also!

Nice fastback!

Of the the three Type 3 options in body style, I have always liked the fastback best. Very sporty looking little beast! Are you going to do the ragtop?

yes as soon as i here from the company to see if a ghia rag top will work,i was thinking of useing a bus one,but it is too long,i hope in the next few months.i like my fasty too.

Hey Chris,

Where 'bouts do you live? You don't have to have your car to go to the shows as Mike said. I use to go to them all the time before I had my car, of course my parents had theirs but it's a big difference when you are showing your own. I like to go to the shows to get ideas and to meet the other VW enthusiasts, they are really fun.
