I think you should pack that thing up and ship it to me for "testing".  It may get a little oil and dirt on it before I return it but I'll give it a shakedown for about a week and ship my old one errrr, it back to you. ;D
Really though, It looks great, good job.

Indeed.  There are pics on my blog.

This included: clutch disk replacement, repacked throwout bearing, rebushed the nose cone, powdercoated the clutch arm and bottom cover plate, drained and degreased the gears, but no actual gear removal, replaced the gear lube.  Stripped and painted the servo housing.  Degreased the exterior, primed w/MasterSeries Silver, and clearcoated.  I checked certain internal tolerances per the Bently manual to assure everything was in serviceable condition and reassembled.  I did not replace the servo diaphragm as, during adjustment of the arm, it was clear that the diaphragm would hold a solid vaccum.

Larry,

I know this is an older thread, but I just picked up a spare transmission today and would like to know how you cleaned yours up prior to painting.

I read the thread on the car wash trick, but for now I'm trying to avoid water.

Hi Dave
I scrapped all the gunk I could from mine with a scraper and degreaser
which was hosed off...  then with a wire brush in a drill...
luckily there wasn't too much to get off...

but if its a greasy sort of mess You will need some degreaser first...
then scraper...  then wire brush,,,

I've done two now... then painted them..
Larry did an excellent job with his...
it really does look new...
the last one i have does have an oily greasy mess on it...
and i haven't done anything to it as yet....

cheers

LEE
