hello has anybody got the figures on how many auto bugs were produced in 67? also what was the first year the beetle had semi auto box fitted? cheers Grant

I believe they were produced after June 30th 1970 which makes them a 1968 model..

the VW model year was from 1st July to 31st june

so a beetle made on the 2nd July 1967 was a 1968 model...

many people who wrote books about the beetle

are saying a beetle MADE on 2nd JULY 1967 was a 67 model
which IS incorrect...

but if you find a 1967 beetle which was the ONLY beetle made with round outside
push button door handles, and its an autostick...
You have found one...  lol

cheers

Hi Grant,

I have written this reply a few times as i was trying to show you a Rally autostick beetle

but it wasn't  a jpeg pic so I couldn't post it...

but You won't have any problems with the autostick
and a 1641, 1776 or 1835 cc engine

as I've seen them on autosticks..
with twin carburetors etc...

the only restriction is the 180mm clutch
so, if the pressure plate is OK [and most are]

You won't have any problems as the clutch is either in or out..

Your beetle may have been sold in Europe with sloping headlamps
and early model bumpers
where as in the US they were probably vertical..

Your car should good with sloping headlamps..

cheers

Lee
