Hey guys,
I went to a show today that was about 2 hours away.  I had no problem on the drive, it ran fine.  When I got there I started to clean my rear wheels with a towel and noticed alot of what looked like grease on the back of the wheel and under the car.   I got down and looked under the left side to see what looks like grease all over the cv joint, shock tower, and at the tranny.  I had this also happen to me when I moved here.  I am wandering if my CV boots boasted and I am loosing grease.   I can get pictures once it cools down so you guys can see.
Thanks,
Jeremy

'73,
I'd say definitely. The CV's are the only place around the trans holding any sort of quantity of grease. When you pop them off,
check your flange plastic caps as well. You'll need a tub of moly grease to re-pack the CV's. Mike can steer you in the right direction re CV's.

Oh definitely!  I've got the scars and the grease under the fingernails to prove it!

the trick is Mike...  wear gloves...  disposible gloves too...

If it IS grease, it has to come from the CV Joints...
note no cracks or loose bolts...
I've checked mine - a few times

I did renew my CV joint boots this year as they had cracks in them
but i found the cracks didn't go all the way thru..
so no grease spill..
all My boots were the same age... but two cracked... these were black rubber items [maybe NOS - old]
I replaced them with yellow colored polypropolene items.. excellent..

those small round black seals behind the inner cv joints can leak too...

cheers
