Did I foul it up?

Ok so today we finally removed the neutral safety switch out of the 1970 Ghia autostick. And yes it did have the copper gasket. However after a bit we noticed a spring on the floor. Did it come out of the neutral switch hole with the switch? Is it from another job? Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be a spring on the neutral switch? If I knew what I was doing these things wouldn't happen.
Thanks in advance for the help. I will try to upload a picture here of the switch and the spring.
Ok I see that I was able to attach the picture. Notice the spring is slightly tapered. The narrow end fits nicely over the business end of the switch, but that could be coincidence.

Hi

I dont think its from the switch it could be just coincidental IIRC the switch has a kind of plunger mechanism in the
barrel you should be able to feel some resistance when you push the ball shaped end in, if you want I can take mine out tomorrow to double check my tranny is out at the moment so its not a problem for me to do.

Hey thanks guys, I feel better about this now. I shall install without the spring.
