Well here I am again with more questions. Although this one comes with an exciting pic. As perviously posted before just finished the engine testing and now my motor is happy, I want to try to ensure it's autostick happy. That brings me to my question. I have replaced the distributor with a hot spark electronic ignition sporting the vacuum advance. My engine was working previously with the Dual Vacuum Advance Dist. I pulled the engine over 3 years ago and don't know how it was connected. The carb is a 34pict3 (Mexican) if that matters. The motor was timed and works with the Hot Spark Elec. SVDA. My intake manifold with the bigger port I know is for Control valve. But what of the smaller vacuum port?  And the one on the front of the carb, which I thought was supposed to be on the right for the CV. Anyway, Please help as I'm so close to getting her back on the road.

Chris,
You need to drill that carb. It does not have the CV feed. Look in the D.I.Y section for "how to".

Sean,

I have went through the step by step. And have a question, the 4 mm x 10 mm drill out is the step, and the 2 mm is completely straight through? It seemed that way be. Just want to make sure. What of the other intake manifold port? And the yellow cappped port to the left of the new hole?

Thanks for your help.

Chris,

The capped off port is for the distributor(I think for retard) with dual vacuum ports. It wont work for the CV feed.  I did the drilling with the carb on(not smart since metal shaving can fall into the engine) and it took me about 15 min after getting everything prepped. 4mm x 10mm is the step, 2mm goes all the way thru. You will notices a great improvement in shifting once it's complete.

Enjoy the autostick madness,

Thanks Marcus,
I took the carb off this morning and drilled it out as directed. I did take the carb off as mentioned you will have a lot of shavings and dust that you don't want to introduce to the mix.

I still need to find out where the vacuum port on the intake manifold goes. Does it just stay capped?

crazyguyla

Chris,

Do you mean the small are large port? The small one stays capped. I have the same manifold.

Marcus,
That's what I was looking for. I know the large is for the 12 mm CV. Does everyone use the bent metal hose from the distributor to the left hand side vacuum port. I know why it's used but rarely see it in use. I tried to bend a brass 3/16 sand filled tube but is won't make the tight top bend without kinking. Anyone know what to do?

Again thanks all for the help. I know vacuum and electrical a autostick back bones. I want it right the first time if possible. Not my usual way!!!

Hiya Chris,

You definitely want the metal tube in that vacuum line.  If you cannot get the tube bent correctly (a tubing bender perhaps?) then make a provision for a vacuum rubber line that's a bit longer than need be.  That way you can loop the rubber line up and secure that loop with a plastic tie.  That's the route I went before I installed the metal vacuum line.

Mike,

That a good work around. I tried to use the bender that I used with my fuel line but the radius is way to large. I might go to the local chain store they have a better tool than the one I have and just return it when I'm done. It's their policy with the rental tube bender. I think that with sand and a smaller radius it might be a better bend. I used the 3/16 brass tube. Kinked very easily. Not alot of strength in the wall of the tube. I think I will try again, its worth the extra bucks making a nice looking piece.

Thanks for all of your help, making it seem like anyone can get it done. I'm proof of it.
