I bought an engine for my newly converted A/S from STD. but unable to find the connection on the manifold for the larger vacuum line that comes from the Control valve.
I believe the small vacuum line goes on the Carb.
Please help... a photo will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hiya Weevil,

The intake manifold for an AutoStick is specific.  It has a 12 mm port (for the large vacuum hose leading to the control valve) just below the base flange for mounting the carburetor.  An intake manifold for a manual transmission would have no such vacuum port.

Take a look at this dual port AutoStick manifold.............

It sounds to me as if you might have to go manifold shopping.

Thanks very much for your input.
Do you know if drilling a hole and welding a nipple will be OK.

When I converted my autostick Ghia to dual port, the replacement intake manifold had no vacuum port for the transmission. My neighbor drilled a hole and brazed a nipple at the location shown in the above photo. Works as new.
When I  was 15 I wanted a Ghia....It only took me 47 years to get one!   1970 Karmann Ghia Autostick.

Yes,

I drilled a hole in My new single port manifold and My Son brazed or welded in a new pipe..
pipe need to be the same size and approx the same length...
I drilled My hole at an angle so the pipe would be at an angle...
but My Son put it in straight... which hasn't made any difference..

Guys,

A couple of weeks ago I pulled the intake manifold off of a manual 1600dp. It has that pipe below the flange. The part number is 113 129 701 AF. I never looked at it until today, but I thought I'd need an autostick specific manifold, which I picked up yesterday. Identical!
So I guess that means the PO replaced his on the manual with this one? So now I've got an extra one?

Pat,
Yes you do. Some Type 2 Bus models also had the same manifold fitting as per an Auto Stick, except theirs was for brake vacuum.
