I was just wondering if anyone has retrofitted a clutch cable on an Autostick instead of using the servo and vac system?

I don't have a Beetle of any kind yet, but have been reading, and was just curious if anyone has done this.

I know clutch cables have been retro fitted, but specifically for converting from autostick to a 4spd.  Depending on the year of the vehicle, the retro fit may not be needed as later pans came with the clutch tube regardless of if being 4spd or AS.

Yep. I'm aware of the clutch tube being there.

But I was interested to know if anyone has put the clutch pedal in with an AutoStick. So your foot controls the clutch rather than the electric / servo / vac system.

Can't say that I have, or would expect to.  That would basically change you over to a 3spd manual.  My buddy however is tinkering around with paddle shifters for an AS.

Sort of.

Just kind of something to look into if there are ever problems with finding parts for the electric system.

Hi

the autosticks were very well made...
they have the 2nd 3rd and 4th gears of a manual gearbox
plus the torque converter...
so the engine isn't really connected to the gearbox...
the gearbox is driven by ATF pressure from the engine's Dual oil pump..

with the autostick, You can take off in top gear [drive 2]
so You don't really have to change gears..
You wouldn't be able to do this without the torque converter..
