I just bought a 69 AS and I am planning to restore it slowly over the next few years.
I am sure that I will have questions that will require wisdom of those here at VWAR.

Hi
and a BIG welcome to the World of German made autosticks.
the best person to work on Your car is You...
and You will get good advice here as We have been thru it....  :D
took Me 10 long years...
but I wasn't working on it a lot during some of those years..
once You have replaced all the vacuum hoses...
things go mostly Upwards... ^^^

as they are the cause of most of the problems...

and photos are welcome...
We just love photos of Your engine and Your car..

cheers

Welcome to the fringe!

The more you play/work with these cars, you'll realize how well they were engineered. If you're new to VW's, do yourself a favor and buy the Bentley Manual for your 69.

Don't be afraid of buying a used one. They may be a little worn, but the older ones have color wiring diagrams that really help when trouble shooting electrical issues.

ps Post some pictures up, especially of the engine (it'll help with ensuring your vacuum lines run properly).
