I'm considering a spare (used) CV .....  Is there any way of testing a used valve, or it best used for parts?

Hiya Bill,

I've been through quite a few control valves in my day and one thing I can tell you is.................

NONE of the control valves have been non-functional.  They may look like the worst imaginable hunk of junk on the outside but they still function inside.  That's because of two things.  One, the control valve is well built - probably over built to some extent.  And two, the air inside the valve is filtered before it gets inside the valve.  All in all, a very hardy component.  The weakest link in the control valve is probably the plastic valves.  But they seem to take a lot of wear and still function.

I wouldn't have any troubles at all in buying a used control valve.  I'd be surprised if it did not work.
