I want to get more power out of my 71 ghia autostick.  I've seen lots of re-built engines with dual carbs and the like.  I'm not a performance expert, so am wondering what "simple" modifications can be made to my engine to increase its power output.

Thank

T-roy,
What is on there at the moment? Single Port or Dual Port? A 009 distributor should be flung if you run one as the first step regardless.

A 1776 is good but needs machining work, 1835 OK for some but needs machining work. Dual carbs=more pain. Cam=mild but you MUST make sure the oil pump/cam type match. Difficult as most VW performance cams are flat type.
You can get 88's (P/C) of two types, thick wall old style or the newer type which won't require case machining but have a 90.5 register so you'll need headwork.

A 1641 Kit is slip in at the head/case and provided your cooling tins are all there and you don't live somewhere very hot may be a
durable option.

A decent merged exhaust is bound to free up a pony or two, but then you have to make sure it clears everything.

Hi

Yes I have seen autostick single port engines with dual carburetors.. and extractor exhaust..
and dual Kadrons should work OK...
or on dual port engines even better...

The 009 distributor with NO vacuum can cause BIG problems..
Same with the 34 PICT 3 carburetor used with the 009 distributor..
