68 AS won't come out of gear

I recently bought a '68 autostick that spent 15 years in a garage. This is my first experience with an autostick, but I'm not new to aircooled VWs.

I got it on the road Thursday and everything worked perfectly. Had no issues shifting gears or running.

On Saturday I lost the ability to shift gears all of a sudden. With the engine off, I can shift gears freely, and with the engine running, I can shift from neutral to any gear with no grinding. Its when I try to go from one gear to neutral or another gear that the lever refuses to move. Also, occasionally when coming to a stop, the idle drops and the car wants to die. I don't know if this issue is related or not.

Solved!

The shifter wire was frayed. I adjusted the shifter points and replaced the wire and the cars shifts perfectly now.
