I lost Range 1

This morning, I lost range 1.

HELP!

Does this mean the tranny is totally bad now?  I still have Low and Range 2, and Reverse.

I may be in left field here, but is the shift coupler in excellent condition ?

By "lost" do you mean it absolutely won't go into range 1 anymore, or so you mean it goes into range 1 but won't stay?
If it's completely blocked from going into range 1, but it goes into all other gears just fine, hard for me to believe it's something internal to the transmission (although anything is possible.)
It could simply be that your shifter plate (metal plate under the gear shifter boot with 2 bolts)  is out of alignment.
