Screech

I'd love to share my pics but the site won't let me!  >:(
My pics are definitely under 128kb - am I doing something drastically wrong?

Hiya Screech,

Did you try to download your pictures from a photo website like PhotoBucket?

No I just tried to upload them from my PC. Should I just try uploading one (instead of four!) and see what happens?

Screech

My second attempt at uploading photos!
If this works...

....this is my 1968 LHD German imported auto bug! He's called Pepper. I'm currently sourcing some period parts for the interior. But he's a runner, and I'm heading down to France in December in him! Fingers crossed!

Bookwus

Hiya Screech,

Nice looking Bug.  I like the "eyeshade".

Got a question for you...............is it difficult driving an LHD in an RHD country?

Thanks for the compliment!

And in answer to your question, no, it's not too hard. So long as you're not bothered about overtaking (and lets face it - it's unlikely with my stock engine!), and if you keep your arse in the gutter, so to speak, I'm usually OK!

What will be weird is driving it in France next month and trying to remember that this time I'll actually be sat on the correct side of the car!!

:)

Hiya Screech,

Good luck in France!

My father-in-law spent some driving in the UK.  Driving on the "wrong" side of the road wasn't so difficult he told me later.  But making turns was a nightmare.  I guess more than once he wound up on the real wrong side of the road.

Screech,
Nice looking beast you got there!

RHD/LHD..those "TURN HERE, WE'RE ALMOST PAST IT" are the ones to watch ;D...only let that happen once in the states!
For me (RHD) the right hand turns in a LHD country needed a second or two preplanning for sure. I reckon it'll be a bit of a novel
experience having a LHD car in a RHD country going back to a LHD country.

Enjoy France anyway.

Hi all this is my registrerd 67 -68 auto stick

volkenstein

AutomaticSamba,
Nice one!! Are those standard 68 Tombstones for Europe/UK. Ours (AUS) didn't get the clear reverse until at least post '71 IIRC. Lee would know for sure when AUS got them.

Hi volkenstein the rear lights were fitted by a previous owner with a flick switch under the dash
handy when reversing if you dont forget to turn them off  :-[  i think they were introduced over
here 71 ish

Bookwus

Hiya auto,

If I'm correct, you coiuld change that PO dash switch system for the back-up lights to the factory designed system with the addition of a back-up switch on the transaxle.  Most of the required wiring would already be in place.  Just a thought you might want to consider.

Hi bookwus  thanks for the info i might look in to that some time  ;)

All the cars look great...
I also like the early towel rail bumpers on late model beetles...

I had a 1971 Super back in the 70s and it had the clear lights at the bottom
but there weren't any bulb holders in there...
I soldered a bulb in both of them then I also had a switch under the dash....

My mexican made lenses cracked after 2 years and the amber color faded away..
I now have new lenses from BFY .. excellent quality...

Keep up the good work Guys...
