Hiya Grumpy,

Dunno about any sources in the UK but you could try these guys.............

http://www.evwparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=001301083B&Category_Code=

or.......

http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC%2D001%2D301%2D083

Note that the seals shown above are slightly different from one another.  eVW is selling a 001 301 083B and CIP1 is selling a 001 301 083 (they also have a 083B but just string along with me here for a bit)  I showed you both seals to let you know that there are two seals.  And guess what?  The seal type changed during the 1970 production year.  So, in order to buy the correct seal for your particular car, you will need the VIN from your car when ordering the seal.  If you take a look at the product description at CIP1 you'll get some more information about this.

And also note that eVW mentions that their seal (the 083B) fits all AutoSticks.  To the best of our knowledge that statement is probably true. But if you can get the seal specified by VW for your car that's the way you should go.

I know you can pick up the torque convertor seal from coolair:

or at least that's where i picked mine up from.

Whoa Nellie!

I just checked out the price of the seal at CoolAir (Chris's link).  At less than 5 quid that's a fantastic price.  That's about $7.25US and they usually go for around $20 over here.  Even with their delivery charges (whatever that might be) the total comes out to about $13.00US.  Heckuva deal.  I'd definitely check them out.

But do remember the provision about your 1970 and its VIN - you want the right seal if it's available.
