Yesterday I drove 300 kms to a VW show - VW Nationals in Sydney..
over a very winding road and up over a mountain range...
a lot of 35 km corners... and a narrow road too...

anyway the best part was, My beetle drove like a new one
except on some of the very steep hills...
where I was going very slow in top gear
or revving madly in Drive 1....

I checked underneath My engine this morning and no oil leaks...
its a miracle... :D :D :D
maybe the drips disappeared during the 100 kmh speeds on the highway...

cheers

Hi Mike,
I think I'm getting too old to drive that distance and back in a day, a long day..
I did take some pics , after having to go back home to get My camera after a few blocks...
it was the largest Nationals ever... lots of new cars.. and masses of people...
even though I had a GPS in My beetle I still got lost... :D ;D ;D
I pulled over to answer My cell phone, rightnext to a large "VW Nationals show ->" sign..  :D

I was a bit bewildered with My new camera which I hadn't used for a while...
and wasn't sure if the pics would come out or not..
the hundreds of lights above the cars make getting a good shot nearly impossible...

I didn't see any autostick beetles...

photos coming shortly...

ASCORTS were a locally made glass fiber sports car on a beetle chassis.. around early 60s I believe..
Beetle with suicide doors... now that would be a difficult job... IMHO..

More pics

Aussie made sports car on type 3 chassis...
can't remember what they are called....?? ??? :o

the red 351 ford engined beetle used to have an old ford bonnet and grill
looks much better this way....     although VWs should have rear engines... and air cooled too... IMHO,, ;D
