HI

I had a look at the samba classifieds yesterday and today...
and the parts You guys can get in the US & canada...

and many prices are much more reasonable than in Australia...

problem being the cost of freight , with anything that is heavy
or weighs more than a few ounces lol...  grams...

I actually went on there to find some spare keys for My beetle
as I have a different key for everything...lol

You can pay $30 including post for one VW key in Australia...
and I have Four I bought that aren't the correct keys.. lol

so, I'm still looking at ALL the other things I would like.... lol

cheers

LEE

Lee,
Modifying the door keys to match the ignition key is about as easy as it gets - (as long as they are from the same year / key blank).
I had to do that to the '72 as the PO had changed ignition assemblies.
Just make sure that you grind off the # stamped into the handle assembly so that some poor person in the future isn't attempting to make a key to that code after you change the tumblers!

Here is a write up in the local VW club that I belong to:  (Chattanooga - Home of the new VW plant in US as well as Bug-a-paluza...)

Easy cheesey lemon peazy...

Good luck.
