NEW WEBPAGE..... Sorry other one didn't work.... not sure why...

Many color pics.... Updated JULY 2006.....  Things still going wrong....

Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, with this restoration..
Here are the Photos with Stories... of My LONG restoration...

My latest Problem - turned out to be the flex drive shaft has come loose ..
ie.. rivets have come loose... Now I cannot get the clutch to disengage so I can change gears...

Tell me about the interior.  Brown?  Padded dash?

i'll send you a PM.. dont wan't to hi-jack lee's thread:)

or not - Disabled..

i dont have a padded dash, as he is a '68 model, and the seats are trimmed in black vinyl, and the carpet was a very dark brown (might have just been age as it was VERY torn up) the headliner is original, and i guess was white:) is now kinda brownish, but no major tears! the front seats are in very poor condition, so thats why i have some olds-man like seat covers,, and i have put in a new carpet kit! (Black)

hopfully very soon i will get the seats all re-trimmed as a fella up the street from me is an upholsterer, so he should be able to do me a good deal!

i have some interior photo's so i will upload them to the website for you to have a look bookwus!

WEBSITE IS UPDATED! enjoy :)

sorry to have kinda taken over here Lee.. hope you dont mind?

I'm interested in everything on this site too, Damien...
So No Problems....
My seats and side trim has been reupholtered in a blue grey fabric which now needs to be cleaned.... I'm hoping it will come out like new..
as it was virtually new when I bought the donor 71 superbug for parts...
I tried painting My original wheels with Silver mettalic paint but they are all pitted around the rim from rust....
The car looked great with that one silver wheel, but I've since painted them all Black.....
and I hope to replace them sometime in the future with Magnesium Alloy wheels...  There are some I like for sale at the moment with good tires on ebay, but they were in Melbourne which is just too far away....
amd too costly to freight about 1500 kilometers....
I'm in no hurry, as I just want to get it finished and on the road, so I can drive it everywhere...

Well its July 2006 and My car was passed for road registration with flying colors in December 2005....
a few years later than I thought....
My gearbox is very noisy... although its getting better, quieter the more it is driven.... Noise is worst in Low gear....
I read in My Bentley manual that the Hypoid oil used in the VW transaxles
is very corrosive, and shouldn't be left in a gearbox which is stored....
Well I filled My gearbox up with hypoid oil about 9 years ago...
so I think there are some bronze/copper bushes with corrosion in My gearbox... I drained the oil a month ago and refilled it...
there are very small flecks of gold in the oil.... not a lot... no big pieces...
just very small gold colored pieces in the bottom of the container.....
I added some Pro-Mar additive yesterday and its getting quieter....
The additive is Lead/Moly ?? which is supposed to fill in pits in the metal...
I have My fingers crossed it will do the job....
I'm adding pics to My website everytime I do something....
I still haven't fitted all the carpet in yet....
I have to raise the front end slightly... a bit too low...

cheers
