I am building a trike using a vw semi auto gearbox and want to know if there any connections that will enable me to turn on reverse lights and perhaps show which gears the box is in without adding limit switches etc

Hi,

the good thing about the box is once you start using it it you will know which gear you are in, there are only 3 forward gears. I put a manual reverse light toggle switch on my car but you might be able to rig up a micro switch to make contact when you move into reverse.

There is a place for a reverse switch on the gearbox..
I haven't actually seen where it goes.. but a standard VW reverse switch will screw straight in....
I don't know of any others for the Drive 1 & drive 2...
You would have to use micro scwitches....
there is Reverse and Low gear...
then DRIVE 1 and DRIVE 2... which are normally used...
