VWAR Old forum !

First let me say that I LOVE beetles. Always have and always will. I owned a 98 and had to trade it in this year for a minivan. Now I'm looking to buy my dream car, and have found it! Only problem is that I have a bad knee and can't drive stick! Does anyone know how I could convert a manual beetle to an automatic? All response will be greatly appreicated!

It depends on what model Beetle You have....
the standard German Beetle - up until 1978....
the German Super Beetles 1302S & 1303S 1970-1975....

all these can be changed over to the Stickshift automatic beetle without any problems....  You would need a donor car to get all the parts....
a Fellow in the UK has done just that....  because of a bad knee....
Find a rusted autostick beetle for the parts.... make sure the autostick actually still works OK...
A few people have had the Fully automatic gearbox from the type 3 fitted to Beetles... there are modifications to be made as the gearbox doesn't just bolt on....   so the autostick is easier.....
