My Vibration came from the flex drive plate actually moving back & forth about 2mm..  made a heck of a vibration though...  My special flexplate bolts have had it.. the heads are now rounded..  were very difficult to get out.. I did use standard high tensile 8.8 hex head bolts once.. I ground down My 10mm socket so it would fit around the head.. worked OK.. but very slow job doing up the bolts.. I am going to use High Tensile allen key headed bolts.. I have beeen told to grind a bit off the head as the head can hit the housing...  Once I get the Flex plate off, I am going to hammer in the rivets.. then drill and add more rivets for extra strength...

After center punching each rivet, My Son welded the center hub to the flex plate in 4 places... hopefully it will not come loose again..
Success at Last...

Yes I will Mike, I hope to have the engine back in tomorrow...
I am still rewiring the car...  all the wires are there.. plus extras..
I am running the speaker wires into the rear and into the doors..
I have installed a tape player radio which I bought about 8 yeras ago.. works well, but the REAR speakers will have to be upgraded in the future, only 10 watts!!..  I have the headlining ready, but My Son told Me to add padding to all the metal parts that don't have padding originally!!  So I hope to purchase some of it in the next day or so,,..   You ought to see all the wires under the bonnet.....  I was going to wire it up in normal fashion, but I've decided to go with the VW wiring diagram... then if something happens at least I'll know where to start...  they have power going to the switches before the fusebox!!  seems really weird :):)
I'm thinking of putting a few circuit breakers in under the rear seat,,,
Anyway, now I want it on the road in a months time.. I'm also hoping to look at another stick shift on thursday, a 1971 1302S 1600TP ... cheap
Mainly I'm interested in the twin port engine etc...   Not sure what I would do with it... drive it... sell it!!!!   I would love to keep it...  Its located 330kms from here... Its been sitting for two years... interior is great.. needs painting... My Son is a spray painter...
cheers
Lee
