my son found a 71 super beetle with autostick in a field and we are trying to bring it back to life.  i know very little about VWs and will probably need lots of help.  Some one was trying to remove the body and place it on a bronco frame and make it a 4X4 then gave up.  So, there are lots of missing parts and the wireing is pretty much ripped loose.

I have the Bently service manual and in the auto stick wireing diagram it shows a Starter cut-out switch.  Where on the car is the switch?

Also if anybody knows where i could find a 71 super in the NE USA cheap for parts, let me know

thanks

Cobey

Switch is on the driver's side front part os the trans, just above the ground strap.  May have a plastic cover on it.  See fig. 7-4 in your Bentley, Autostick section..
