Hello VW AS lovers!

Nice to know that a site exist exclusively for our much loved rare Auto VW.

I own a 69 beetle, auto of course, which I'm currenly restoring.

Anybody knows if there are any VW automatic parts suppliers down here?

Thanks.

Hiya Dennis,

Welcome!

Volkenstein and Lee can probably give you a pretty good idea of what might be available for an AutoStick down in Oz.

I'd just take this opportunity to offer that online and mail order resources are out there for various AS parts, so you might want to check out that angle.

Hi Dennis,
Depends what you want really. Most A/S beetles have a lot of parts in common with any other beetle so that's good.

Other stuff needs some imagination because some prices in Oz are beyond the pale. Mick Motors in Qld has the clutch plate, sometimes the trans sump gasket, they do have the torque converter seals. I get a lot of my "hard" spares from anywhere I can get them and that is mostly in the classifieds section of www.thesamba.com or at various US based mail order companies. Cip1, evwparts are two online US shops that have readily available stuff.

Also, some shops around the country have spares, you have to let your fingers do the walking.

Second hand parts in Oz are either expensive or you have be lucky with someone privately wrecking one. BuggyBrad on www.aussieveedubbers.com runs a buggy shop and he usually has some semi-auto bits floating around.

Be aware that some parts are NLA so you have to look far and wide.

Having said all that....they are generally trouble free.

Enjoy
