HERE I AM AGAIN WITH A PROBLEM.  I JUST GOT A USED SERVO FROM
E-BAY.  GUARANTEED TO BE GOOD!  AT REST, THE SERVO ROD SITS ON THE BOTTOM, IT'S PUSHED ALL THE WAY IN.  IS THIS OK?
MY OLD SERVO, WHICH LEAKS, THE ROD SITS ABOUT HALF WAY AND CAN BE PUSHED EITHER IN TO THE BOTTOM OR PULLED OUT.  IF YOU PUSH IT IN YOU MUST HOLD IT THERE.  THIS "NEW" ON IS AT THE BOTTOM & CAN'T BE PUSHED IN ANY FURTHER.  hAVE I BEEN SCREWED?

Johnr,
The rubber bladder is strong and a "W" sort of moulded shape.
It is possible that it has just been pushed back and it has stayed in this position because of the spring that is in there. The one off your car is in the "normal" at rest position.

If the servo shaft on your new one won't move from it's fully retarded position, that's a real problem. There are three small rubber buffers on the back of the centre plate that would prevent sticking/rusting of the centre piece to the rear cover.

Note that some nutjob might have stuck a massive spring in there....oh, and just check they haven't shoved something into the vacuum spigot as well!

Find "The Guts of your Servo" topic I put up and it shows how it all goes together.

Sorry, but I have to ask, why didn't you just get a repair kit?

evw and speak to Joe. I have just ordered a spare servo repair kit and a few hundred US$ worth of other parts from him and he was incredibly helpful. He has even offered to buy some of my reproduction one-way clutch gaskets I am having made.

How do I get into contact with Joe?  Does he have a website, e-mail address?  Thanks!
