Chris,
I've seen that one advertised on TheSamba. Also CIP1 sell two versions of the "034", Bruck (read China) and VW Mexico. Aircooled.net go one better and can tailor the 034 to suit multiple applications.

Do you know CB Performance have released an 050 based vac advance HEI kit about a month ago? I emailed them for curve specs, and they couldn't supply me at the time.

Then we get into US exotica. Mallory vac advance in points or Unilite configuration$$$s. Utterly adjustable to suit, and again Aircooled.net can set them up however you want.

For Euro buffs, try www.123ignition.com . Have a lookee at their 16 selectable curve distributor (with vacuum option).

I've left out Pertronix (no vacuum).

If you look in the Late Model section of TheSamba at the stick titled "Index to interesting posts" there is one there by Glutamodo about which carb works with what dissy. Interesting reading!

As to upgrading, I just tossed the 009 and am going to fit a stock 205AH distributor until I really need to upgrade.

Volkenstein,
Why are you  doing away with the 009?

Stenis,
While the car never suffered from the dreaded flat spot, it proved to be somewhat sluggish on acceleration. I got a hold of an SVDA out of a Bus, put it on and after timing it to specs went for a drive. The change was noticeable. The engine ran smoother and accelerated better. I wound up backing off the accelerator pump closer to the middle position. I tried that with the 009 and got a flat spot!

Volkenstein,

You tried to use a 009 together with the original 34 carb, did you?  But with the Weber DGEV it works like a dream (no flat spot).

Stenis,
I don't have ready access to a DGEV or the manifold

I'm sort of stuck with making do with what I've got  :D

I have a pair of 1 3/4 SU's though

I sold my 009 and bought the Bus dissy. The 205AH I picked up cheap.

Killkornkobb has your set-up and I recommended he read your post (which he has!) about modifying it for vacuum and is finding himself a 009 as funds allow. He also ran into the DGEV problem of the choke shorting out on the shroud.
